The smartphone includes a GPS function, which is exploited by the Jungfrau climate guide. Thanks to the GPS you can see exactly where you are at any time on one of the topographical maps included in the guide.
But the main purpose of the GPS is to deliver information on climate change to users of the guide at the very spot where there is most to see in the terrain. This is how it works: You are walking along one of the seven climate paths, and are approaching one of the climate hotspots. When you are about 30 meters away from it, the GPS function in the device will automatically trigger an acoustic signal, and you will be asked whether you want to listen to the audio file designed for this specific spot. Of course, you can also download the audio files manually wherever you please.
