Climate change presents tourism with some major challenges. But this path, with its five stopping places, also points out new opportunities that are opening up for the region. For example, hot summers in the future may mean that more people are attracted to the mountains for their holidays. On the other hand, the warmer climate will create difficulties if the mountain railway companies have to reinforce their buildings because the permafrost is thawing – as is happening, for example, on the Schilthorn.
